What are Contributions?

Tidal Contributions is a feature that allows artists to receive direct support from listeners when they upload music through Tidal. It offers artists a new way to build stronger fan connections and grow their careers on their own terms, and it gives fans a chance to support the artists they love.

How do artists become eligible to receive Contributions?

Artists must have a Tidal account, be based in the U.S., be at least 18 years old, and link a verified U.S. Cash App account that’s in good standing. To get started, go to your Profile > Settings and follow the prompts to connect your Cash App account.

Who is eligible to send Contributions?

Listeners must also be based in the U.S., be at least 18 years old, and link a verified U.S. Cash App account that’s in good standing.

Where in Tidal can listeners contribute?

After music is uploaded through Tidal, artists can connect their Cash App account directly from their artist profile. Listeners can then contribute from either the artist profile or the Now Playing view, depending on where the music is being viewed or played. Currently, Contributions are only supported via Cash App.

Can artists add a custom message to the Contribution section on their profile?

Yes! Artists who upload music to Tidal can add a short custom note that appears above the Send a contribution with Cash App button on their artist profile. This note is a great way to thank listeners, share updates, or highlight how their support helps. The message can be edited or removed by clicking the pencil icon. Contribution Notes must adhere to Tidal Content Guidelines

How do I set up a Cash App account?

Cash App accounts are free to open. To get started, download the Cash App mobile application from your device’s app store and follow the instructions to create an account. To be eligible to give or receive Contributions, the account must successfully complete identity verification, be in good standing, and have no unresolved B-notices. For more on B-notices, visit cash.app/help/5642-bnotices-from-cash-app. Use of Cash App is subject to their Terms of Service and Privacy Notice.

Are Contributions anonymous?

No. The sender’s $cashtag and account name will be visible to the receiver in Cash App.

Can Contributions be split with collaborators or groups?

Not right now. Contributions are sent to a single Cash App account linked to the artist profile. If a track features multiple artists, the Contribution option won’t appear in the Now Playing view.

What if there’s a payment issue with a Contribution?

All payments are processed through Cash App. For any questions or issues, please contact Cash App Support directly.

Can Contributions be turned off?

Yes. You can turn off Contributions by going to Profile > Edit and switching the Contributions toggle off.

Is there anything to keep in mind when receiving Contributions?

Yes. Contributions are sent at the discretion of the sender, and Tidal is not responsible for the transfer or its outcome. Any funds received belong solely to the recipient. If a message or description is included as part of the transaction within Cash App, it is for informational purposes only and is not verified or guaranteed by Tidal or Cash App.

Contributions Guidelines

We’re excited to offer Contributions as a way for listeners to support the artists they love. To make sure it stays a trusted, respectful feature, here are a few important guidelines for artists and listeners:

  • Make sure you’re following all applicable laws and Tidal’s Terms of Use

  • Any content you upload should follow Tidal’s Content Guidelines

  • Your linked Cash App account should be verified, in good standing, meet Cash App’s eligibility requirements, and have no unresolved B-notices. You can learn more about B-notices here. Cash App’s Terms of Service and Privacy Notice also apply.

  • Don’t offer perks, rewards, or incentives in exchange for Contributions

  • Don’t use Contributions to fundraise for political causes or anything illegal

  • Don’t use this feature to sell goods or services

  • Don’t collect Contributions on behalf of someone else without clear permission
