Exclusive Mode

Exclusive Mode allows TIDAL to take exclusive control of your audio device, providing the best possible sound experience while listening. When Exclusive Mode is enabled, TIDAL controls your audio output device. This means you’ll need to adjust the volume directly in the TIDAL app, not through your system’s volume settings. You’ll enjoy uninterrupted, high-quality sound as long as:

  • Your DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) is connected to your PC.
  • The DAC remains connected the next time you open TIDAL.
  • You haven’t logged out of the TIDAL app before closing it.

If these conditions are met, Exclusive Mode will remain enabled and continue to use your audio device without issue.

Force Volume

With Force Volume, TIDAL keeps the app’s volume at the maximum level, allowing you to control the sound output through external devices like your DAC or speakers.

Getting Started with Exclusive Mode

  1. Ensure your DAC’s firmware is up to date for optimal performance.
  2. Connect your DAC to your PC or Mac.
  3. Open TIDAL and enable Exclusive Mode by navigating to Settings > Streaming > Sound Output (click 'More Settings').
