Please note Android Auto is different from Android Automotive. Learn more about Android Automotive here.
Getting started:
- For Android 9 or below, install the Android Auto app. Android 10 and later have it built in. We support Android 7 and later versions.
- Connect your phone to your car via USB to see Android Auto on your dashboard. Some phones can connect wirelessly. Learn more here.
General tips:
- Control TIDAL in your car with your Android device even when locked.
- Manage the app on Android devices while connected to your car unit via Android Auto.
- Adjust the volume using your car's controls; Android physical buttons won't work.
- If unplugged, playback resumes from the last track and position, whether online or offline.
- Music pauses during phone calls and resumes after the call ends.
- Use voice search by saying "OK Google" or tapping the Microphone. Search for tracks using voice commands like "Play [artist name] on Tidal" or "Play [song title] by [artist name] on Tidal."
Offline mode:
- In offline mode, play downloaded content from My Collection.
- On the Now Playing screen, shuffle, repeat playback, and track radio are available.
- Track radio works only in online mode.
Troubleshooting:
- If you encounter playback issues (buffering, interruptions), try playing another track, download playlists, or switch to offline mode.
- Reduce streaming quality in app settings on your phone and test.
- Reconnect your mobile device to your car head unit for troubleshooting.
- For issues like "Android Auto doesn't start" or "TIDAL/Android Auto crashes," try another USB cable to test.
- If you need further assistance, please create a ticket with TIDAL Support.
