How to Use Tidal on Your Sonos Device

Setting Up Tidal on Sonos

Via the Sonos App

  • Open the Sonos app on your device.
  • Tap on 'Music Source' and select 'Add Music Services.'
  • Choose 'Tidal' and select 'I already have an account.'
  • Enter your Tidal credentials to log in.

Via the Tidal App (Direct Control)

  • Play any track on the Tidal app.
  • Tap the speaker icon.
  • Select your Sonos device.

Minimum Requirements for Streaming

  • 5 Mbps for 1 FLAC stream.
  • 7.5 Mbps for 2 FLAC streams.
  • 10 Mbps for 3 or more FLAC streams.

Adjusting the Volume

  • Volume control is available within the Tidal or Sonos app.
  • Physical volume keys on your mobile device work only when the Tidal or Sonos app is open.
  • Sonos users cannot control volume from the lock screen or outside the Sonos app.

Common Issues and Troubleshooting

Audio Dropouts with Tidal on Sonos

  • Ensure your internet speed meets the minimum requirements.
  • Reconnect Sonos to your Wi-Fi network.

Functionalities and Limitations

Desktop

  • It's not possible to connect to Sonos using the Tidal desktop application.

iOS

  • Max tracks automatically fallback to High when played.
  • Streaming quality cannot be changed.
  • Tidal Mini controller not available on the locked screen or notification bar.
  • Video content will not play (audio only through Airplay 2 on new Sonos models).
  • The repeat button is disabled when connected to Sonos.

Android

  • Similar functionalities and limitations as iOS.
