What are verified split sheets?
Verified split sheets enable you to record agreed-upon composition ownership percentages in a centralized location with your co-writers. After sharing a split sheet with your collaborators, each co-writer can sign to verify their split ownership or propose a change. Once all splits are signed, the split sheet becomes verified and viewable by all listed co-writers on the song.
Are verified split sheets binding legal agreements?
No. Split sheets are not legally binding contracts. These documents can be useful for clarifying contributions and preventing disputes over credits and royalties. By creating a split sheet, you represent and warrant that all information you enter is correct, and you understand and agree that TIDAL will not be responsible for the accuracy of or any disputes arising from the information you provide.
Who can I send split sheets to?
You may send a split sheet to any U.S.-based songwriter. They will need to claim their songwriter profile on TIDAL Artist Home before they can view, sign, or propose changes to the split sheet. If a collaborator does not yet have a songwriter profile on TIDAL Artist Home, you can click the three dots icon next to their name, select "Invite to TIDAL," and add their email. They will be notified that you have added them to a split sheet and invited them to claim their songwriter profile.
How will I know if a co-writer has signed my split sheet?
When viewing your split sheet, the status of each co-writer will be displayed beside their name. "Signed" means they have given their approval. "Waiting for signature" means they have not yet signed the split sheet. (You may want to give them a nudge.)
How can I sign a split sheet that someone else sent to me?
When reviewing a proposed split sheet, simply click “Agree to splits” and draw your signature when prompted. By clicking “Sign,” you verify your split percentage, which will be displayed to your co-writers.
Where can I see my pending split sheets?
You can view all split sheet proposals pending your approval or awaiting others' approval under the "Your Works" section.
A split sheet proposal someone sent to me is incorrect—can I change it?
Yes. If you would like to amend a split sheet you’ve been sent, you can propose a change. Underneath the split sheet, click “Propose Changes.” You can adjust the percentages assigned to each co-writer and share a short note summarizing your changes.
Am I able to see past versions of completed split sheets?
Yes. After a split sheet has been signed by all participants, a “version history” icon will appear. If you or any of your co-writers decide to propose changes in the future, they will be stored within the “version history” dropdown list. The most recent version of the completed split sheet will be marked “Verified Split Sheet,” while all prior versions will be marked “Outdated Split Sheet.”
