Live feature

The Live feature makes it easy to discover and enjoy music with others in real-time. Select tracks from our 100M+ song catalog, share your session link, and go live.

Getting started with Live

  • If you haven’t created a profile yet, you’ll need to create one before going live. Learn more about setting up your profile here.
  • Press play on a track
  • Click the LIVE button
  • Name your live session to set the vibe (50 character limit)
  • Once you start your live session, you can access your shareable link during your session by clicking mceclip0.png and selecting the Share session option.
  • You’re ready to go live!

During your live session

  • Review, edit, and add to your queue by clicking the list icon in the bottom left hand corner.
  • Your session will end if you X out and will pause if you receive a notification.
  • If listeners are tuning in during your live session, you will see the number of listeners next to the headphones icon in the top right. Listeners can also view the number of listeners in a live session.
  • Currently, tracks will play in the normal AAC quality 96kps. If you select tracks in the Dolby Atmos format, listeners will not be able to hear the song being played.
  • Click the X button when you are ready to end your live session. There is a 3 hour duration limit.

Your live session listeners

  • We recommend listeners tune into your live session while on Do Not Disturb mode on their mobile device to prevent listening disruption.
  • If someone wants to listen to your live session who is not currently a TIDAL subscriber, they will be prompted to sign up for a free trial after clicking your session link.
  • Currently, listeners can only join live sessions from subscribers playing in the same region that their TIDAL accounts are registered in. Paid subscribers in the US and Canada can listen to Live sessions in either country.
  • Your listeners can also see the number of listeners in your live session.

Who can start and join a Live session?

TIDAL subscribers on a paid plan or trial can start and join a Live session being hosted in their country. Listeners and DJs in the US and CA can join sessions in both countries.

Non-TIDAL subscribers can experience their first session without signing up for a paid plan when they click your session link.

Does each listener in a Live session count as a stream?

Yes. If you start or join a Live session with 50 listeners who stream a full song, that song will register as 51 individual streams. Support your favorite artists with your Live session.

Can listeners and DJs interact with one another?

Listeners are able to send a :fire: emoji or a 🩵 when a song is favorited that will be shown to everyone including the DJ during the session. Listeners are able to follow the DJ or other listeners who send an emoji.

How do I get listeners to join my Live session?

  • Your Live session is discoverable in a dedicated section in the TIDAL App where 50% of your total listeners will come from. When listeners follow your Profile, they will see your Live session first in this section.
  • Give your session a unique and descriptive name that makes it easy for listeners to know what your vibe is. Whether it’s a listening party for a new album, energy boosters for the gym, or power ballads for the work commute, your title makes it easy for people to join you.
  • Your session link never changes and is unique to your profile. Share it with friends and family or with fans on social by using #LiveOnTIDAL.

Do I have to listen to Live sessions?
